Visa bought a unique cryptocurrency token

The payment technology company announced on Monday that it had purchased the 7610 cryptocurrency token on August 19.

Cryptopunx, of which 10,000 images have been generated so far, is known as one of the major collections of the NFT market. Cryptopank No. 7610 is one of the 3,840 unique tokens in this series, designed as a female character.

A collection of 9 rare cryptocurrencies NFT, produced with the first 1,000 tokens, sold for $ 17 million at Christie’s in May this year.

Cyu Sheffield, Visa’s director of digital currency, wrote in a post that Visa’s main purpose in the purchase was to learn more about the growing market.

Sheffield said:

We think NFTs will play an important role in the future of micro-investments, social media, entertainment and commerce. To help our customers and partners share, we need a proper understanding of the infrastructure needed for a global brand to purchase, maintain and use NFTs. [ساخته شده است].

Sheffield added that Visa intends to express its support for the producers, collectors and artists who are developing the NFT business, and also wants to “have a unique token that symbolizes the excitement and opportunity that exists at this particular cultural moment.”

Sheffield likened NFTs to the early days of e-commerce, where small businesses reached a level where they could sell their products online and have customers from all over the world.

The director of Visa digital currency department said:

We can imagine a future in which your digital currency address is as important as your mailing address.

An hour after the announcement of the visa purchase, another 90 NFTs from the Cryptopanx suite quickly sold for about $ 20 million. As of 5:50 p.m. GMT, 293 cryptocurrency tokens were sold for approximately $ 77 million, according to CryptoSlam. Of these, only 39 were valued at $ 8.4 million and were sold on Sunday.
