Homayoun Asadian, a film and television director, claimed at a filmmakers’ meeting attended by the speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, that some actors were signing contracts with Bitcoin to evade taxes.
According to Arzdigital, he referred to the law on taxing actors and artists of cinema and television, which said that this law made some people prefer bitcoin to receive their salary.
He said in part:
[بازیگران] They sign a contract with Bitcoin and Bitcoin is credited to their account in other countries.
It is not possible to say how true his claim is, but in recent years many businesses in Iran have turned to bitcoin as a method of payment.
Assadian also said that this is a matter for familiar actors, and that in doing so, they are exempting themselves from taxes.
