Abdul Nasser Hemmati was removed from the post of Governor of the Central Bank and Seyed Hamidpour Mohammadi was appointed as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank.
According to Arzdigital, and quoting Tasnim, Abdul Nasser Hemmati, the governor of the Central Bank and the presidential candidate, said last night in a speech at the Club House about the rumors of his removal from the post of Central Bank governor:
“If you want to stay in the election, you can not stay the head of the central bank because it affects monetary issues,” the president said. Of course, I said, “The election campaign has no effect, but you have the power.” Of course, I have heard from some economists that they will have to wait and see what they decide to do. I have not been in the Central Bank for two days and my deputy, Dr. Komijani, is doing the work of the Central Bank. I have delegated all authority to Mr. Komijani.
In response to the news of the dismissal of Abdolnasser Hemmati from the post of Central Bank Governor, the exchange rate has increased in the open market and now the dollar is traded at around 24,300 Tomans.
