Our purpose in writing this article is to compare two examples of the newest and least consumed bitcoin miners, the Whatsminer M30S + from MicroBT and the Antminer S19 Pro from Bitmain. Of course, there is no doubt that Bitcoin’s more expensive 7-nanometer product is more powerful; But in terms of output power and result, it can be said that both miners show almost the same performance. The data during this short, three-day trial show that BitMiner’s performance is slightly better than Watsminer; But on the other hand, Watsminer is superior to its rival in terms of stability. Overall, both products work great.

To conduct the experiment, the exchange’s research team turned on both miners for three days and recorded the data needed to measure their performance, such as hash rate, power consumption, temperature, sound, and even the velocity of air generated by their outlet fan.

Hash rate (processing power)
The bitcoin miner S19 Pro hash rate of 110 mins per second has been reported, and this is 100 watts per min for the WhatsMiner + M30S miner. This is a huge computing power for a machine, which means that these machines can try to find a bitcoin block a hundred trillion times per second. As you can see in Figure 1, during this experiment, both of these miners were able to achieve their declared and approximate alert rates.
WhatsMiner + M30S, after updating its latest firmware توانست, was able to achieve a hash rate of 103.8, which is 3.8% higher than its announced hash rate; While the Intaminer S19 Pro reached 110.7, which is 0.6% higher than the advertised hash rate. As shown in Figure 1, Watsminer Miner has a higher hash rate stability than the Bitcoin Main product and has experienced less volatility during the test period. In our opinion, this stability is one of the remarkable advantages of Watsminer over its rival.
Of course, hash rate fluctuations can also be affected by different conditions of the test environment. For example, the temperature of our laboratory environment was relatively high, and this is one of the factors that can affect the results obtained.
Figures 2 and 3 show the hash rate reported by the Poolin mining pool for the two miners Watsminer + M30S and Intminer S19 Pro over a period of 15 minutes. Due to the shorter time period, the reported fluctuation rate is also higher.
As you can see in Figures 4 and 5, both miners performed well in terms of energy efficiency and their performance was in accordance with the advertisements. Watsminer consumed 34.4 joules of energy (J / TH) in this experiment, which is one percent higher than the number declared for this miner. Entminer outscored its competitor in this test by consuming 29.7 joules of tar (which was 0.6% higher than the declared value).
Wattsminer High Power Mode
The Watsminer + M30S also has a High Power mode that we tested for one day. Using this mode, this miner was able to achieve an output power of 109.4, which is a significant increase compared to its normal state. Of course, it is clear that using this mode requires more power consumption. WhatsMiner power consumption reached 3,743 watts during this period, which was about 400 watts more than normal (3,331 watts).
As you can see in Figure 7, the Watsminer + M30S’s energy efficiency in High Power mode, with an average of 34.3 joules per second, was only slightly behind normal.
One of the most important differences between these miners, which makes Bitmin superior to its competitor, is their average temperature. We measured their temperature every hour by placing a thermometer in the airflow path 15 cm from the main outlet. Entominer recorded an average temperature of 45.9 ° C, which was about 10.5 ° C lower than that of its rival, Watsumner.
In our opinion, this is a major advantage for the retainer, and the reason could be less power consumption of the retainer or a better cooling system. The Intaminer has more fans than its rival and has a higher air circulation speed. These factors reduce the temperature of the air flow in this device. It should be noted that in addition to the warmer airflow of the Watsminer, the temperature of the device itself was much higher during the test than the Intminer.
The amount of sound produced by each miner was another measure of this experiment. We measured the amount of sound each one made by placing a sound level meter 15 cm apart perpendicular to the miners. According to the test results, Watsminer produces an average sound with an average sound of 83 decibels compared to Intminer with an average sound of 81.4 decibels.
As shown in Figure 9, the amount of sound produced by Whatsminer is more stable, and the range of oscillation of the Inteminer’s sound is sometimes up to 4 times greater than that of Whatsminer. The difference between the two miners in this respect is almost similar to the difference in their hash rates, which, despite the better performance of the Intaminer, the Watsminer was more stable. The interesting thing to consider is whether this greater stability will make Watsminer more popular in the long run.
Air flow speed
In our opinion, air velocity is the least important criterion in this experiment. According to the statistics obtained from the average of 10 readings taken every hour, the velocity of the air leaving the intaminator is 5.2 m / s and the velocity of the air leaving the wattsminer is 3 m / s.
One of the most important features in which the Intaminer is superior to its competitor is the speed of launching and starting the Miner. According to the statistics obtained in the 5 steps we took to launch the miners, it takes only 4 minutes for the target miner to reach the target alert, while the average for Watsminer is 27 minutes. Of course, this delay could be due to a specific security feature built into Watsminer.
Supply mechanism and supply chain
It must be acknowledged that Microbit is superior to Bitcoin in terms of supply chain management. There are currently not many options for applicants to buy intimate machines and these miners are not available for wholesale. In our conversations with BitMin customers, many of them complained of repeated delays in shipping and problems with the company’s warehouses. We faced the same problem when shopping.
Microbit Company was able to deliver its goods to us within a few days; But it took almost 5 weeks for the Intaminer. The delay could be due to a disruption in the supply of 7-nanometer chips by Taiwanese company TSMC or due to a power struggle that has been going on at Bitcoin for some time.
The first thing to note is that the Intaminer S19 Pro with 29.7 joules per second is a less expensive device than the Watsminer + M30S with 34.4 joules per second. Although Microbit recently launched a newer product called the Watsminer ++ M30S with an energy efficiency of 31.0 joules per second, it still outperforms the Intaminer. However, it has reduced the productivity gap to a minimum; Especially considering that Microbit uses Samsung’s 8-nanometer chips (older chips with lower intrinsic efficiency) and Bitcoin uses TSMC’s 7-nanometer chips with higher intrinsic efficiency. It should be noted that microbial products are significantly cheaper than bitcoin products and because of the stronger supply chain, they are much easier to buy. However, you can only buy Bitcoin products through the company’s official website.
In assessing the strength and volume of orders received by the two companies, we believe that BitMin still retains its relative superiority. The main reason for this could be the company’s top brand and more well-known name. After talking to several bitcoin mining farm operators, we realized that although most of them are problems in the bitcoin supply chain, many of them prefer to continue working with the company’s products and want to replace them with miners. They do not have a microbial company. Of course, in general, convincing a mining farm operator to use a new miner is not easy; Because working continuously with a particular producer can boost farm productivity and reduce maintenance costs.
Our final conclusion about these two miners and their manufacturing companies is that they are in very close competition with each other, and considering all of the above, it can be said that BitMin is a little ahead of its rival.
